Starlink free trial: how the 30-day window works

Updated 2026-08-03

Starlink does not offer a free trial in the classic sense — you pay for the kit and the first month up front. What it offers instead is a 30-day return window on direct orders: if it does not work out, you send the hardware back for a refund.

Some links on this page are referral links. If you sign up through them we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. This does not affect the data shown or the order in which providers are listed.

Starlink referral link

One month of free standard service for you and the person who referred you. No code to type — the link applies it automatically.

How the 30 days actually work

  • The window runs 30 days from delivery, not from ordering or activation.
  • It applies to kits ordered directly on starlink.com. Retail purchases follow the retailer’s own return policy instead.
  • Return the kit within the window and the hardware cost is refunded.

Trial + referral: the sensible combination

Order through a referral link and you keep both protections: if Starlink disappoints, the 30-day window gets your hardware money back; if it delivers, the referral month arrives as a credit 31 days after activation. The referral costs nothing either way.

Program facts on this page were read from Starlink Help Center: How do I refer a friend to Starlink?, Starlink Help Center: How do I use a referral link? and Starlink: Referrals on 2026-08-03. Starlink can change its programs at any time — the linked pages are always the authority.

Frequently asked questions

Does returning the kit cancel the referral month?

Yes. The credit requires staying a paying customer for at least one month after activation — a return inside the window means neither side receives it.
