The most common mistake with Starlink referral codes is hunting for a promo-code field at checkout. It does not exist. The code is part of the referral URL, and using it correctly takes about a minute.

Step by step

Open the referral link in your browser. It lands on starlink.com’s normal order page.
Look for the referral banner confirming the code was applied — it names the free month of service.
Enter your service address and check it is available (not waitlisted).
Order a Residential or Roam plan directly on starlink.com — not through a retailer.
Activate the kit when it arrives, and stay subscribed. The credit posts 31 days after activation.

If you already ordered without a referral

Referral credits attach at the time of the order on starlink.com. Kits bought through resellers or retail stores, and accounts obtained by transfer, do not qualify afterwards. If you have not yet ordered, use the link first — it is the only step that cannot be redone.
